Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino betting is illegal. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, features 150 slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel complex that contains numerous comforts on top of the gambling den, which provides ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and 88 tables.
